Eight Steps to Choosing the Perfect Baby Toy

What You Should Consider When Choosing A Baby Toy

Eight Steps to Choosing the Perfect Baby Toy
Little Tikes Toys play one of the most critical roles in helping develope a baby's motor-skills and learning ability. It's important to take your time when choosing the right toy. We offer a wide selection of toys that range in features, type, price, and age. Below are seven steps on what to consider when making your selection.

Step 1 - Do your homework

If you haven't had experience with children or babies seek guidance from parents you know. Ask a friend or neighbor if they've had success with particular toys for particular age groups.

Step 2 - See that the toy has passed safety standards

It's important to ensure that whatever baby toy you choose has passed appropriate safety standards. You will be able to see this information in the features section of our descriptions.

Step 3 - Carry out your own safety checks

Think about the age of the baby and whether it is likely that baby will be biting hard because they are teething. Look out for plastic toys that might break into in the baby's mouth. Avoid baby toys that have long cords or string.

Step 5 - Think about the toy's lifespan

When considering a toy, think about its uses. Can the toy be used in different ways to keep your baby engaged, or will it likely be handed on to someone else within a few months of purchase?

Step 6 - Read all the information about the toy first

Make sure you read about the toy and understand its purpose. Babies go through many developmental stages and you want to make sure the toy is appropriate for his age.

Step 7 - Don't buy toys for you

You might think a psychedelic dance mat is the best, but your six month old might prefer his play mat. Toys for younger babies often have strong contrasting colors, faces, teething rings, light and sound toys. Older babies will find more fun in shape sorters, puzzles and ride on vehicles. Three year olds will want to play with physical toys, role play games and toys, play houses and arts and crafts sets.
